The Relief Society is the world’s largest organisation of women with over 7 million members. That makes it a remarkably powerful force for good and the core vehicle for women’s influence inside the Church. لعبه القمار روليت The role of the organisation has shifted and changed throughout the history of the Church, but the constant presence of revelation, faith, and fervent dedication to the work of God has always been present in the Relief Society. These three resources represent different approaches to cataloguing and sharing the history of this remarkable organisation.

1. The First Fifty Years (Jill Mulvay Derr, Carol Cornwall Madsen, Kate Holbrook, Matthew J. Grow)

This book, published in 2016 by four employees of the Latter-day Saint Church Historian’s Press, sets out a catalogue of records from the early Relief Society. It is not intended as a narrative story or a book of commentary, rather it shares the historical record of the women seeking to build this organisation. Many prominent figures and events in Church history make an appearance, as the Relief Society was organised, suspended, then reorganised into the form we know today. لربح المال This collection of documents includes “minutes of meetings, sermons by both women and men, annual reports from local Relief Societies, newspaper articles and editorials, political petitions and speeches, poetry, letters, journal entries, and reminiscences” from both the centre of the Church and more remote areas. This is an excellent resource for someone interested in the details and facts of women’s organisation in early Church history, unvarnished by modern commentary. موقع المراهنات كرة القدم

2. Daughters in My Kingdom. (Susan W. Tanner)

This book was written by the Relief Society General Presidency in 2011, with the goal of providing a resource that could familiarise every member of the Church with the importance and history of the Relief Society. As a result, it is an inspirational and accessible resource that draws on rather than catalogues comprehensive historical resources.

3. Women of Covenant (Janath Russell Cannon, Jill Mulvay Derr, Mary Ursenback Beecher)

Women of Covenant fills a middle-ground between the pure historical resource of The First Fifty Years and the very accessible Daughters in My Kingdom. All three books have a similar goal, but Women of Covenant takes a long history and shapes it into a detailed historical narrative. Its authors, one a former member of the Relief Society’s global leadership council, the others Church-affiliated historians, set out to catalogue not just the history of the Relief Society as an institution, but the story of the women of the Church. The result is a dense 433 pages full of stories about the revelation that has guided Relief Society members as they sought to support and improve the lives of those around them. This will be a substantial read, but an excellent resource for anyone interested in a detailed and comprehensive history.

The book is in English and is accessible through: Amazon and Deseret Book.
